default
Posted on Mon, 24 Jul 2017
Question: Hi,

Is there any alternative form of treatment for MDS? If yes please do let me know.
Also if I can get contact details, cost of the treatment, duration of the treatment and the success rate of it.

My father aged 58 is suffering from MDS and we are considering BMT from unrelated donor.

Brief Answer:
BMT is the only option

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health care magic.

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a condition wherein the bone marrow stops producing blood cells and there is no way to stimulate it to start producing again. Bone marrow transplantation is therefore the only option.

The coats can vary depending on a number of factors. The procurement costs, the procedural costs, the cost of immunosuppressive therapy - all are contributory. The success depends on the degree of HLA match. Let me know how you plan to proceed and I will guide you accordingly.
