Brief Answer:
HORMONAL TREATMENT IS BEST. FOLLOW OTHERS.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I am trying to solve your problem as per your concern.

PCOD is the MOST common endocrine system disorder among reproductive age group women. It is associated with irregular delayed period with abnormal hair grow (or excessive) on different body parts (called Hirsutism).

Some other associated factors are obesity or heavy weight, stress or anxiety, emotional upset, hormonal imbalance including thyroid disturbance, irregular eating habit, taking any psychiatric medication etc.

Excess body hair (Hirsutism) or acne occurs due to high androgen level (blood testosterone or DHEAS). It should be treated properly.

In this case, I suggest you to undergo several FRESH investigations like pelvic ultrasound scan (USG) to check status of the ovarian cyst, Complete hormone assay ( LH / FSH level, blood estrogen & progesterone levels), thyroid profile, blood sugar & prolactin level, Blood testosterone & DHEAS level, Hb% etc.

MEDICAL TREATMENT: It is quite useful to treat symptoms of PCOD with regularization of period. Generally, small cyst DOESN'T need any surgical treatment until it interferes with pregnancy or in failed therapy.

Combined hormonal pill with Ethinyl estradiol (estrogen) and Cyproterone acetate (anti androgen) is the MAINSTAY of treatment to alleviate PCOD symptoms including hirsutism & acne. Medicine like KRIMSON- 35 or DIANE-35 are widely used to treat PCOD. Laser treatment can be undergone periodically.

PCOD is mostly associated with insulin resistance & tends to develop type-2 diabetes in future. Therefore, Metformin can be added with above medication to prevent the same. It has significant role in PCOD.

In addition, you may require to take some supportive medication, depends on fresh test reports. I suggest to consult with gynecologist for guidance of above mentioned FRESH tests and procure complete prescription.

The following MEASURES are quite useful to maintain for healthy life style and regularize period :

1) Take healthy LOW CARBOHYDRATE diet with green vegetables and IRON supplement.

2) Complete avoidance of Salty/ Fatty/ Junk food stuffs associated with high calorie. Calorie intake should be limited.

3) Try to avoid mental stress by regular Yoga/ Meditation or breathing exercise (20-30 minutes).

4) Control body weight by regular moderate physical exercise. It has GREAT role in regularization of monthly period. You can join in the XXXXXXX

5) Keep bowel habit regular, maintain genital hygiene properly and always take a sound sleep with complete relaxation.

Hope, above information is very much helpful & understandable to you. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.
