Question: Hi,

My father is a NSIP patient, who is being treated by a doctor from Apollo XXXXXXX We live in XXXXXXX Doctor from XXXXXXX prescribed a medicine called 'Pulmoclear':
https://www.0XoXXX.com/drugs/XXXX-0000

This drug unfortunately not available in our country. And the stock we had for my father has ended. We are going back to XXXXXXX on 2nd April for revisit and we do not have any other option to take medicine in between.

We have Acetylcysteine tablets, but we do not have 'Acebrophylline (100mg)' in our country. Any suggestion that could be used for next 2 weeks in place of the above medicine? Montelukast may be? My father has been taking this medicine for 6 months.

Brief Answer:
No, montelukast is not substitute for acebrophyllin.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Pulmoclear has a combination of Acebrophyllin and N Acetyl Cystine.
Acebrophyllin is a bronchodilator drug. Montelukast is anti allergic drug so montelukast is not a substitute for Acebrophyllin.

You can search for Deriphyllin tablet or Doxophyllin tablet as a substitute for Acebrophyllin. These are of the same Xanthin group of bronchodilators.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your father. Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. This drug seems to be available in our country:

While deriphyllin combination isn't available, rather only Theophylline is available. Please advise the proper dose to replace acebrophyllin 100mg with doxophyllin. Thanks a lot for your reply.

He feels some chest pain when he walks up more than 2nd floor using stairs. He doesn't feel any breathless on normal walking. We have never calculated his normal oxygen saturation level, but he never needed any additional oxygen. Thanks a lot Doctor, hope we will visit your clinic someday :)
