Brief Answer:
You are not allergic to prednisone. You are having side effects.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Honestly speaking, there is no term like allergy to prednisone.
What you are having is side effects of chronic use of steroids.
Actually prednisone is given to relieve the symptoms of allergy. It is drug of choice in allergic conditions.
So allergy to prednisone is somewhat not acceptable.
But if you really want to rule out this then get done serum IgE level and skin test for allergy.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
You might be having idiosyncratic reaction to prednisone.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I thought you are taking prednisone since long because you are scleroderma. So sorry for misunderstanding.
So possibility of idiosyncratic reaction to prednisone is more in your case.
It is different type of drug reaction.
It is not common but it can happen.
You can try deflazacort. It is newer steroid with lesser side effect and equal therapeutic benefit.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
