I have been taking this for episodic depression. I wanted to know that as this is a 25 years old suggestion some better alternative even better salt must have come in the market.
Brief Answer:
SSRI's
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Yes Amitryptilline is a well known and used drug since old times.
However, it is also used frequently now a days.
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) are now in trend particularly Escitalopram.
You may discuss with your doctor about switching you on to it.
But if your episodic depression is under well control, i would not recommend any change as your body and mind must be well adapted to this drug.
Changing to a new drug can cause you anxiety and aggravation of the symptoms initially.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
Stay healthy.
