Suggest An Appropriate Diet For A Newborn
Question: I need a complete diet plan for my 2yr and 3 month daughter. Because physical growth is not happening properly.
She doesn't drink milk directly. Only in night may be drinking 200 ml with junior horlicks.
Mainly she eat 1 bowl daliya in morning.
And 1 bowl rice and dal in afternoon and night.
Takes very much time to eat anything.
Please suggest what should be proper diet with proper gap.

Suggestions on growth pattern and feeding
Detailed Answer:
Hi....I understand your concern. I had asked for date of birth and current height and weight to calculate the percentiles for both. Just to introduce you about the concept of percentile, you should remember that any value between 5th to 95th percentile is perfectly fine and we need not worry about it.
Your daughter's are -
Weight 25th - 50th centile
Height 10th - 15th centile
BMI 17.7kg/M2
This is to convince you about the normalcy of your daughter's growth pattern. So this proves that your kid's diet whatever you are giving is perfectly fine. The proof for this is her growth centiles which are normal.
Now coming to your query about diet chart. Rather than a diet chart, it's better to know about the principles of good diet in this age. The problem with a specific diet chart is that, if the kid doesn't accept it or for any reason if you are unable to follow it, it will make you tense.
Coming to the principles -
I take this opportunity to tell you certain scientific facts and relieve your distress -
1. An active is a well kid even if she/ he is not eating well.
2. Development of a kid is as important as or I would say even more important than growth alone.
3. As the kids grow their interest in food decreases and interest in play activities increases so that they eat small quantity and run away to play. As parents we need to be more patient and feed than less quantity but more aliquots per day.
4. This age rather than the quantity of the food I suggest you concentrate more on the number of times you feed her and also make whatever you feed her calorie dense by adding good amount of ghee to it.
5. I suggest you not to use appetite stimulants on long run as they may cause drowsiness.
