Suggest Dosage For Guanfacine

Posted on Mon, 20 Nov 2017
Question: I have just inadvertently taken 3 (possibly 4 but I think 3) full guanfacine (1 mg) tablets. My current dosage is to take 1/2 tablet 3 times a day. I take a large number of capsules and tablets, especially early in the day. Since I was up all night (having taken my least 1/2 tablet at about 1:00 am.). I slept about 4 hours today so this was my first dose of ANY pills today. I have extraordinary Sonia's difficulties so take high doses of Sudogest (120 mg 4 times a day), I had already taken my first 120 mg dose of the day. Somehow I think I thought the tablets of guanfacine had a set out to cut in half were Sudogest (both tablets were small , round, & white). It's been 1/2 hour or more since I took the overdose of guanfacine and I still feel fine. I have read about the possible side effects of guanfacine.
How worried should I be and what should I expect when?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
You would be fine!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this mistake. 4mg is well within the acceptable limits as as much as 7mg can be prescribed daily. I recommend you continue to monitor only at this time. Nothing bad should really happen to you. Stop further dosages scheduled within the next 24hours.

I hope this helps. Keep me updated. I wish you well. Feel free to keep me updated and follow up if need be.

Thank you, Dr. Ditah!
Looking now at the question I sent (though I did check it before hitting "send") it's a wonder that you could adequately answer my question (I see that Auto-correct "revised" my inquiry!): "Last" became "least" and "sinus" became "Sonia's."
Nevertheless, thank you very much for your response. It has definitely allayed my anxiety regarding this issue!
Warmest regards,
