Brief Answer:
emergency contraception

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
As genera is a low dose oc pill, you should take 4 tabs stat and then 4 tabs after 12 hrs as emergency contraceptive dosage to prevent pregnancy. Now this schedule and protocol is 75% effective and hence it is advisable that if bleeding or withdrawal bleed is not seen after 7 days of last dose then you should get a blood serum beta hcg test done to rule out pregnancy based on hcg levels.
There are other emergency contraceptive pills like unwanted 72, ipill, plan-b which are available and they are more effective with better outcomes if taken within 72 hrs of last intercourse.

ANSWERED

Detailed Answer:
If you can get hold of labelled emergency contraceptives like PLAN-B or Unwanted 72 then chances are 99 % success rates seen in preventing pregnancy if the pill is taken in next 72 hrs. The withdrawal bleeding shall start within next 5-7 days which would ensure that your partner is pregnancy safe.
The known side effects are nausea and dizziness but that can be controlled by adequate hydration as these are high dose progesterones and the side effects are progestogenic and have to be managed symptomatically.
If the bleeding doesnt occur then chances are that she may be pregnant and contraception has failed and hence a serum beta hcg test be done after 7 days post pill intake if no withdrawal bleed initiated and then if positive then medical termination can be opted for if pregnancy is decided not to be continued further by the couple under a gynaecologist's supervision.
