Brief Answer:
Dose to dose calculation wont match so not advisable.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Istamet 50/1000 contains Sitagliptin 50mg and Metformin 1000mg.
Istamet 50/500 contains Sitagliptin 50mg and Metformin 500mg.
Exchanging one Istamet 50/1000 with 2 tablets of Istamet 50/500 is not advisable as dose of Sitagliptin gets doubled.
Instead you have two options-
1) Take Istamet 50/500 and tablet containing Metformin 500mg seperately.
2) If your treating doctor permits you can take any other company (brand) tablet containing Sitagliptin 50mg & Metformin 1000mg.
Hope this helps you.
