Suggest Dosage For Meftal Spas For A Child

Question: Hi doc,I have a son he is 4+ and suffering from high fever. Doc prescribed us to 5ml meftal to him but elwe have given him meftal spas which is meant for children under 6months of age. So just wanted to know if I can give him meftal p again within half an hour as his fever is not coming down

The dose of Meftal-P or Meftal Spas (both containing Mefenamic acid) is 7mg/kg/dose to be given minimum 6-8 hrs apart. Check the dose suitable for your child (and give the balance amount, if any) and if the fever is still not coming down, just use Paracetamol or Acetaminophen (15mg/kg/dose) after some food .

Thanks doctor. So please let me know that when can I give him paracetamol now as his fever is not Coming down. I gave him meftal spas one hour back

The dose of paracetamol is independent of one another and there needs to be no association between the two.
