Suggest Dosage For Oxycontin

Question: My mom is 96 and is on oral OxyContin 10m twice daily. The time between getting the OxyContin is the problem. At night she receives it at 6:00 and the next morning not until 7:30-8:00. Is there a window of time
to give her the morning dosage? She seems to be nervous and agitated in the morning. Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question.
Oxycontin is usually dosed every 12 hours so the gap between the 6pm dose and the morning dose may be the problem.
You could try giving it to her earlier in the morning if that is an option.
If not you could try giving it later at night so that the gap between doses is closer to 12 hours.
If neither of these idea work then you may need to talk to her doctor about increasing the evening dose or giving her a small short acting dose to take in the morning.
Let me know if you have further questions.
