Question: Hello

I am currently taking fluoxetine 20mg/day for depression. I havent been able to sleep lately and a friend recommended i try phenergan (promethazine) to help make me sleepy. I just took 2x 25mg phenergan tablets so i can have an early night but then read that i shouldnt take phenergan with fluoxetine. Am i in danger as i have already taken it?

Brief Answer:
No, it is largely safe

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

The use of fluoxetine and Phenergan together is largely safe and there are no major interactions.

I do not think you need to worry about any serious danger while using Phenergan.

I hope this helps you.

If you have more questions feel free to contact me.

Thanks and regards.

Brief Answer:
Yes that I mean

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

The chances of serotonin syndrome are there but it often takes place when the dose of fluoxetine is 60 mg or above. The 20 mg of fluoxetine is almost never sufficient to cause serotonin syndrome in young adults and you can be stress free in this regard.

I hope this helps you further.
