Suggest Dosage For Prednisone While Suffering From Bronchial Asthma
Question: I have a new prescription for Prednisone that says: Take 4 tablets daily for 2 days, then 3 tabs daily for 2 days, then 2 tabs daily for 2 days then 1 tab daily for 2 days then stop. I have been taking 1 tablet every 6 hours since I started on 11/28 at 1730. I realized that I am not jittery like the doctor said and it occured to me that I am probably supposed to have taken all 4 tabs together once a day. If that is correct, what should I do now. I am being treated for asthmatic bronchitis. I do feel better but wonder if Im taking this rx correctly.
It is time for me to take my 7th dose (or tablet) now with me taking 1 every 6 hours.

Brief Answer:
You can take as a single dose in the morning or split as you are doing now.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Since you are going to take the Prednisolone only for a short while, splitting the dose into 4 times a day as you are doing is ok.
For those who require to be steroids for a long time, taking the full day's dose as a single dose in the morning is better as the side effects of long term use are less.
So if you feel more comfortable with splitting the day's dose into 3 or 4 times, you can continue to do so with same amount of efficacy as all tablets in a single dose.
Do get back to me if you have further queries.
