Suggest Dosage For Vitamin D3
I am 35 years of age male.
I want to take advice on daily dosage of vitamin d3 for myself.
I waa prescribed the same about 2 years back after tests had indicated deficiency.
I consumed the course and then discontinued.
I want to start again as i am feeling weakness and joint pains etc after exercise .
I have the tablets that are rated 600 IU each.
you'd better do the test before initiating treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
before initiating treatment you'd better measure your 25(OH) vitamin D3 in the blood. Anything lower than 30ng/mL means that you're going to need supplementation. You can also try to increase your sun exposure. Usually 15 minutes every day are enough.
Regarding dosage, it depends on symptoms and vitamin levels in the blood. You can take a couple of those tablets (600 IU) for a total of 1200 IU per day since you're going to receive even more vitamin from food and sun exposure. Please note that even higher dosages are not expected to do any harm. It's not easy to exceed the toxic levels even with doses 10 times higher than the suggested one.
I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
