Suggest Dosage Of Peritol For Children
Question: Would it be ok to give a 1 ml dose of Peritol to a 45 day infant who is not taking proper feed
Brief answer...absolutely contraindicated for use in children below 2 years
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and would like to state that peritol ( cyproheptadine) is not at all given to children below 2 years as it may cause liver damage, confusion, undue excitation etc to the infant.
As far as why your child is not taking feed, should be examined by a paediatrician and then managed accordingly.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
