if you improved 100% continue same medicines for at least 3 years
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
Thanks for writing to us.
From names of medicines you mentioned it is confirmed that you are suffering from schizophrenia. You have been suffering since 1996.
It is very good that you have improved up to 90% with sulpitac (Amisulpride) and prodep (fluoxetine). In schizophrenia such improvement is highly appreciable. Yes you can increase dose of sulpitac up to 200 mg under your doctor's guidance for further improvement.
If I were your treating doctor I would recommend to continue medicines for at least 3 years in same dose as you have long standing history. After that dose can be decreased very gradually. At any time during dos reduction if you feel symptoms are happening better to shift to higher dose from that level and continue probably for more 3 years.
As patients’ with schizophrenia becomes stable with much efforts in my opinion long term treatment should be there to prevent relapse and maintain quality of life.
Smell and sweating are unlikely side effects of amisulpride. If they are started only after starting medicines you need to ask your treating doctor for further evaluation of those symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

thanks
feeling smell can be part of your illness
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for follow up. Actually second paragraph (part) of your first question was updated later and before that I had already given the answer.
Feeling smell can be olfactory hallucination which is part of psychosis/schizophrenia only. Sweating can be due to some physiological reason (like hormonal diurnal variation, high sympathetic tone) or it can be part of anxiety symptoms of your problem.
Prodep can deal with sweating part and sulpitac can deal with smell.
Prodep is not at all sedative. It rather reduces sleep. It should be used after breakfast in morning.
Sulpitac can cause sedation in few patients but not so much with 150 mg dose.
Optimum dose is 200-400 mg in most of the patients with negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Many of my patients are stable on 50-100 mg dose also. Exact dose is finalized depending upon symptoms and response of the drug in patients.
Any drug for best results should be used for optimum period and optimum time.
Hope this will help. Feel free to discuss further.
