Suggest Dry Formula Milk For A 3 Year Old
Any commercial formula is the same
Detailed Answer:
Hi...there is no definite indication to give formula milk only for babies after 2 years of age. Any commercially available milk powder will do like Amulspray etc. This is just an example and not a recommendation as all the formulas contain equal constituents and calories.
Stomach and vomiting and vomiting are not indications that any specific formula needs to be given. Baby formulas are recommended only till 2 years of age.
I have a few questions -
1. Did she have any sort of milk allergy previously?
2. Is there any diarrhea?
3. Is there any constipation?
4. Is there any lack of supply of bottled milk or packeted milk in your region?
5. What was her birth weight and current weight?
Kindly get back to me with the answers to above questions.
Regards - Dr. Sumanth
There are no lack of supply here, but my wife wanted to continue giving her the same formula from XXXXXXX that we stocked up. Should we have the milk checked for contamination at the local hospital?
Pasteurized milk is the best
Detailed Answer:
Hi...I will come to your queries directly.
1. Stomach pain could be due to various reasons like worms in the stool, or int could be a harbinger of loose stools and vomiting. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry only for a tummy pain.
2. Is there any family history of stones in the urinary tract or gall bladder?
3. Coming to the aspect of using the stocked milk power - the same formula from XXXXXXX - the formula that you have used for 2.9 yrs - I advise you not to use it as though the kid may like it - the calories in that may not be sufficient for your kid now.
4. Whether you need the check the milk with the local authorities is up to you and I am unable to judge on this unless I see the milk myself.
5. It is not imperative that you definitely have to give milk daily for the kid to be healthy. You can give a gap of few days and then can continue to use pasteurized milk after a few days as it is the safest milk and usually doesn't contain any pathogenic organisms as it is pasteurized.
