Suggest Effective Antibiotics For Stye
Considerations
Detailed Answer:
thanks for sending the question.
There are a number of choices regarding treatment of a stye. Often I will use a topical antibiotic in addition to an antibiotic by mouth if symptoms are moderate to severe.
Regarding the topical antibiotic I generally use tobramycin ophthalmic drops. This is a prescription medication that can be obtained from your primary care doctor.
As far as antibiotics taken by mouth for this particular situation I often use cephalexin. This is also prescription medication which can be obtained from your local medical provider.
with regards to the prescription and directions for use of these medications we would recommend that you discuss this with your primary care physician for definitive management. If your symptoms progress or do not improve then it would be reasonable to have this evaluated in your local emergency department or urgent care center if needed.
thank you again for sending the question.
