Suggest Good Medication For Severe IBS Symptoms Like Frequent Bowel Movements, Diarrhea And Abdominal Cramps Leading To Disturbed Sleep

Question: For the past one week, I have a severe IBS problem. I have to go to the toilet nearly 6-7 times a day but I still feel that my bowel is not totally empty, the urge remains. It's predominantly diarrhea or greasy shit. Have cramp in the lower left abdomen. Also, not having a continuous good sleep and need to wake early morning like 4:00 AM for the past two days with a hot squeezing abdomen. Once u have a bowel movement it takes around 15 min to settle down and then back to sleep. I drink alcohol every day and a bit stressed out in the job. Had Medicines like colospa and IBSET, which had a minimum impact this time. Please suggest me a good medicine.

I have gone through the details. The medicines that have been prescribed to you is correct. I would suggest you avoid alcohol. Reduce your stress by regular walking atleast for 30 mins everyday. Deep breathing exercises for 15 mins twice daily.

In case of severe squeezing pain abdomen you can take Tab. Buscopan 10 mg twice daily or thrice daily as and when required. Continue rest of the medicines as advised.

Hi Doctor,

I am not getting enough sleep. Heard there are some stress relievers which is prescribed for IBS like "Normaxin RT". Can I take add this to my current medicines what is the strength and dosage?

I am allergic to Buscopan I take Meftal spa during intestinal cramp. Do I need to change or continues the same?

I take PAN- D daily in the empty stomach for past 10 years. Is IBS because of this. Any alternative? Taking PAN-D for so long, does it have any long-term side effects. PLease suggest.

Also, I regularly take Eritel-ln-40 and Roseday 10mg for my BP / Cholesterol. Should I stop this. Please advise

Hi,

You are not getting enough sleep because of squeezing pain abdomen right? You can take Tab. Meftal spas for the same as and when required. Normaxin RT is not advised. No Pan-D does not cause IBS.

The rest of the medicines can be continued. Continue your BP and cholesterol tablets also.
