Suggest Home Remedies For Hiatal Hernia
Question: Now I do need help with ways to deal with heart burn/ hiatal hernia. I want to know what non-prescription treatments will help. Tried Zantac; made me dizzy and sick. Have been relying on extras strength antaacid (Rite Aid). Calcium carbonate 750 mg. This seems to lead to constipation, higher glucose readings.( complication for treatment is having Type 2 diabetes reasonably controlled with metformin and glyburide. )
Need an alternative to the calcium carbonate? Also taking (maybe once a day) maxium strength antacid and antigas (Rite Aid): aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, simethimethicone. Are there any natural helps?

Brief Answer:
can try over the counter prevacid or prilosec
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
You may want to try medications from the proton pump inhibitors family of medications.
These medications suppress acid production more than other reflux medications.
Some are over the counter eg prilosec or prevacid.
These medications work at a part of the stomach that plays a part in producing the hydrogen which is part of the acid that is formed in the stomach.
It can sometimes take 5 days for an effect because they cannot get rid of the acid already there but prevent/reduce any other acid from forming.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
