Brief Answer:
Walking with walking aids, bicycle, and water based activity will help him.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. He will need walking aids to avoid fall. Balance is usually a problem and walking aids will reduce risk of fall. Orthopedic Walking stick to help in balance. Always advise him to move slowly.

2. Stationary bicycle will be helpful as part of improving lung function and stamina. If swimming experience is present, water aerobics and swimming will be very good. Few back exercises to strengthen back, particularly lying on stomach and lifting head, legs - daily 5 minutes should be adequate.

3. Good lighting at all locations, wherever he moves is very important.

4. Comfortable footwear. Avoid any sort of heels. Bathroom floors should be non-slippery.

5. Trained physiotherapist can help in balance and muscle strengthening. Weak muscles (due to low mobility, low protein diet) are one of the reasons of loss of balance.

6. Improvement in diet, rich in protein (at least 1g/kg body weight).

Hope it helps.
