Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,
Thanks for your query.
1. The reports revealed low hemoglobin, high triglycerides, borderline high TSH and normal renal and liver parameters.
2. She is receiving medication for hypothyroidism, anginal heart disease and high blood pressure.
3. For hypothyroidism with nearly normal TSH, current medication may be continued for 12 weeks and TSH should be remeasured. If it still comes more than the normal, the dose of thyronorm will have to be revised.
4. For low hemoglobin, a physician consultation is warranted. He will have to work up further to decipher the cause of anemia and its subsequent management.
5. High triglyceride levels do not require any medication. Only life style modification is required. This involves optimal weight, daily supervised exercise and avoiding excess of carbohydrates.
6. Among the drugs for anginal heart disease, STATINS are missing. This is a class of drugs which is used to lower cholesterol levels. It is recommended in anginal heart disease irrespective of cholesterol levels. Possibly in view of past history of Chronic hepatitis C, it has not been started,as these drugs may be liver-toxic. I would recommend a consultation with liver specialist and if he allows, starting "Statins" under prescription and strict supervision of your cardiologist.
sincerely
