Question: My husband has IgM positive and IgG negative....what medicine to take and diet restrictions and rest??

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. IgM becomes positive when there is an acute infection. IgG becomes positive only after a certain period of time. The IgM positivity therefore indicates recent infection. However, you have not mentioned that for which ailment the IgM and IgG were tested. Depending on what is being tested for, the treatment will vary. I would therefore insist you to tell me the same.

Treatment with suitable antibiotics is needed.

Thanks for writing back. In case of typhoid treatment with antibiotics would be needed. Oral antibiotics like ofloxacin or cefixime can be given. If he has been hospitalized, treatment with IV antibiotics like ceftriaxone or ofloxacin can be given. Usually treatment is given for 7-14 days depending on the severity of the infection.
