Suggest Medication For Diabetic And Post CVA Patient
Question: Hello I am a both a Diabetic (not yet controlled) and a post CVA patient, I am a smoker that understands ghd risk in smoking, I have tried different avenues to stop smoking that have not worked from patches to z pill that did not work and have family that have received the treatment using Chantix successfully (one of which has heart disease and the other a post stroke patient before taking the drug Chantix) I know that situations are different patient to patient but I both need and want to stop smoking and wan to get my diabetes in control I also known that I must do some things differently to help myself toward getting and/or stabilizing my existing health and for me smoking or not smoking is a.priority with diet. I am with Kelsy Care. Advantage presently and want to know what practice physicians will better served my position and needs. My present physicians won't. I have read the FDA report on Chantix and find that the Chantix treatment could still be worth me trying thud method. I want to know since my insurance allows me to self refer should I see. I also know that I felt better before I started back smoking after my stroke then I feel now smoking and I know I must stop. Will you send me some direction to better help myself please? My story is more involved than I am able to share in this message and has no bearing with my present need.
Brief Answer:
Addiction medicine specializt
Detailed Answer:
there are doctors that specialize solely in addiction and a lot of them use multimodal therapy with counseling, medications, and hypnosis. there is pretty good evidence that chantix plus nicotine replacement with gum or patch is better than either alone. hope this helps
