Suggest Medication For High BP
Question: I have HBP and have been sent to see an internest. He has tried so many drugs, but to no avail. All seem to affect my muscles, butte and down my leg on my left side. I am on nothing now, and the doctors are beside themselves to know which drug to put me on that WILL NOT affect my joints and muscles. Do you doctors have any idea which drugs I could be put on? The pain has been SEVERE with all of the drugs. Do you need to know the ones I have been on, and if so, I will type them out and send them to you? I am from Canada, so we may not have all the drugs you suggest. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks.

Thanks Dr. XXXXXXX for your help. My BP just a few minutes ago was 164/107/65 as I am not on any medication.
I do have RAMIPRIL 2.5 MG that was given to me while in the hospital, but my GP told me not to take it. Should I give it a try?
I am beside myself, and don't know where to turn for help, as drugs seem to have so many side effects for me. Is there another alternative that I could use?

Brief Answer:
I would suggest Physiotens
Detailed Answer:
An anti hypertensive I have found to be very useful in such situations is Physiotens 0.4mg once a day. This does not belong to any group of medicines you are allergic to.
I have not had any patient complaining about it except slight increase in sleep which may be advantageous at times.
Since you had allergy to Diavon, an ARB, Ramipril an ACEI may produce allergy.

Dr. XXXXXXX is this good to bring down the BP, and will this one be available in Canada? Will it have any side affects with the Effexor that I am now taking? I REALLY APPRECIATE you helping me with this. My specialist got upset with me because I was reacting to all the meds he put me on, so has now told me to go off of everything - he didn't care what I did. I am going to see my GP on Tues. so would like to suggest this to him.
Will Physiotens 0.4mg/day affect my eye sight? Have any of your patients complained about having trouble with blurred vision, etc. after being on Physiotens?
Is there an alternative to this medication, as I just discovered it is not available in Canada.

Brief Answer:
No interaction and minimal side effect
Detailed Answer:
Sorry for the delay in replying as I live in a different time zone. There is no interaction with Effexor
Physiotens is Moxonidine. Generic preperation may be able or you can order Physiotens from an online pharmacy.
Hope you have started on the lifestyle and food I had suggested.
Wish you a good day and good health.
