Suggest Medication For High BP

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that when dealing with hypertension we need:
- to adjust the best anti-hypertensive scheme,
- and give the sufficient time for the therapy to yield beneficial effects,
First, it is important to let you know that there are no pre-arranged schemes for treating hypertension. After a comprehensive medical evaluation to exclude secondary causes of high blood pressure (I believe it is already performed), a medical therapy is decided after attending doctor discretion (accounting for patient's specifics, like concomitant diseases, possible adverse drug effects, age, etc).
Coming to this point, I would suggest that: If you haven't obvious secondary hypertension or serious concomitant pathologies (that is, kidney, liver, thyroid, adrenal, etc. disorders are excluded), and the therapy is just started (less than a week), then we have to wait for at least a couple of days (1 week) to properly judge about the therapy effectiveness.
Otherwise, if that is not a new therapy, I would suggest to closely monitor your blood pressure daily (several BP measurements daily) and if similar or higher BP values persist, then you should discuss with your attending physician the opportunity to add another drug, such as Amlodipine 5mg/day.
To conclude, I would like to assure you that 144/82 mmHg is not considered a near borderline blood pressure values.
So nothing to worry about too much!
Just discuss with your doctor for a possible therapy optimization.
If you have further uncertainties, do not hesitate to ask me again!
Hope to have been helpful to you!
Best regards,
Dr. Iliri
