Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM
I understand your concerns but don't worry. The high grade fever spikes are not always associated with serious infections. They may occur even in self limiting viral infections which are usually common in this age group. They need just symptomatic treatment as suggested by your pediatrician and improve gradually over a few days. Ensure regular feeds and fluids to maintain hydration and adequate rest.
In case the fever spikes continue even after 48 hours with no improvement and no other localizing sign, then go for lab evaluation to rule out infections i.e. CBC ( complete blood count), procalcitonin, Rapid test for Malarial parasite and typhoid, blood culture, urine examination and chest X ray. Also, a repeat clinical examination by pediatrician will be helpful.
There is no need for anti viral or flu vaccine in healthy kids of this age group as the effectiveness is not yet established for XXXXXXX population. These vaccines are tested in temperate climate countries where the strains and sensitivity is totally different. So, we recommend them only in high risk cases such as kids suffering from chronic ailments and immunocompromised.
Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
