Suggest Medication For Hive Rashes
Question: To Dr. Kakkar S.
Doctor, I have taken taking medicine loratadine 10 mg this morning and continuously applying calamine lotion after sometime or so (that 's a big relief from itching). But this hive has partly spread to right ear as well now (similar to left ear redness) and have covered the right hand including finger and sometimes even after calamine lotion it is itching a lot. I will take critizine in the evening. I don't think there is any relief until now rather it has spread.
What should I do?

Brief Answer:
Continue with the same treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Since you have just begun this treatment today morning so it needs to be seen how it goes over the next few hours. What you can do is that you can take loratadine 10 mg twice daily (morning and evening) along with cetrizine 10 mg once daily in evening,as before. I suggest you to continue with these for a week.
Continue with calamine lotion.
Regards

Doctor,
There is no relief until now. I have taken medicine as prescribed. Left ear is getting worse and it has increased on to my right ear and right hand thumb side as well. And on the more, I am almost sleep deprive because of itching happening all through the day, Calamine is less effective. I am applying it like 6-7 times in a day now.
Medicine Course:
loratadine 10 mg (one morning, one evening)
Critizine 25mg (one evening)
Calamine 6-7 times a day.

Brief Answer:
You would require a short course of an Oral steroid
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I would add a short course (7 days) of an Oral steroid i.e Tablet Defza 30 mg (Deflazacort), once daily after breakfast. An antacid i.e pantoprazole 40 mg needs to be taken on empty stomach (before breakfast) once daily along with this. Continue with cetrizine and loratadine and calamine as before.
