Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that when considering high blood pressure treatment, first it is necessary to confirm/exclude a probable secondary cause of hypertension.

For this purpose, it is recommended to check some lab test:

- complete blood count (for possible anemia),
- thyroid hormone levels (possible thyroid dysfunction),
- blood electrolytes levels,
- arterial blood gas analysis, and if suspicions are raised
- aldosterone level (adrenal abnormality),
- plasma renin activity, etc.

Once a secondary cause is revealed and properly treated, then high blood pressure values will subsequently resolve.

As, there are not predefined antihypertensive schemes, it is necessary first to closely monitor your BP values for a couple od days up to a week (several times daily) under your current treatment and review those measured blood pressure values for an optimal antihypertensive therapy optimisation.

When you have those BP values, then it would be possible for your prescribing doctor to properly modify your actual antihypertensive therapy.

I remain at your disposal for a second professional opinion, if you have additional medical tests to review.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
