If the patient is just having blood pressure and no other disease then both Telmisartan and Cilnidipine are good and equally efficacious choices. And if patient is having diabetes, then telmisartan is best choice.
So for general patients, either of
Tab Telmisartan chlorthalidone combination (Telma CTD 40/12.5) once a day in the morning or
Tab Cilnidipine 5 mg once a day, is preferred choice. Also, my personal choice is Tab Telma CTD out of two.
These are started if blood pressure is persistently above 140/90 mmhg. Also, it's important to have healthy lifestyle like exercises, low salt diet. Blood pressure monitoring is important like 2-3 times a day till doses are adjusted.
