Suggest Medication For Persistent Brown Watery Diarrhea

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jan 2016
Question: Hi there, I'm having this brown watery discharge for the last 3 and a half months now and I'm at the point where I cannot stand it anymore! I went to a doctor in Antigua Guatemala as I'm traveling at the moment and will still be on the move for the next 2 months. The doctor gave me Dicynone, it's been 3 days now and nothing has changed. Is there something else I could try or tests I can do to try and get to the bottom of this? Is this normal at all or should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Vaginal swab culture will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The brownish and smelly discharge that you are having is not normal and is suggestive of a vaginal infection. The best way to treat it is to get a vaginal swab culture done to find out the antibiotics best for the treatment. This will need a combination of antibiotics like azithromycin, secnidazole and fluconazole for proper treatment.
Do consult a gynecologist for proper investigations and treatment.
