Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist).
I have gone through your query and I understand your concern.

If you are looking for a tinted sunscreen I would suggest you to use Suncros Tint Sunscreen. It is non comedogenic and has an SPF of 50. It is marketed by SunPharma.

Sir i have used Suncross and Lashield as well.

Would you mind telling me what does tinted mean ?

I am not looking for tinted necessarily , i just specified the name as it read 'Rivela Tint'

Rivela, Suncross, La Shield all are like mustard colored and i am specifically looking for Mattle color , so in that case would Lotus Herbal Sun Safe be fine and is it Non comedogenic?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Regarding your sunscreen- you may try it

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Yes. You can try this product. Lotus sun safe sunscreen is non oily, has a matte finish and is supposed to be suitable for oily skin although as far as comedogenicity of this sunscreen is concerned, I am not sure if it has been lab tested for that. Not many over the counter sunscreens undergo that kind of stringent testing. Anyways you can certainly go for it.
In general gel based products are more suitable for oily skin e.g Suncote gel is one such sunscreen product.
More often than not finding a perfect sunscreen is more of a result of trying it on oneself and then deciding on whether it suits or not. Of course attributes like being non oily, non comedogenic are to be considered before choosing a sunscreen for oily skin. So you can try this product.

Thanks for your Prompt response.

My skin tends to remain a bit on red side and i take all the precautions necessary like not moving out in the sun, putting sunscreen thrice a day.

Can you please advise me how it can be contained as i get redness even while sitting in a room temperature?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

From my diet's perspective, i Intake all of these on daily basis
Almonds, Green tea, Spinach, Apple, XXXXXXX Juice, Carrorts, Tomato, good amount of water to improve minor acne scars & redness and at times i got one odd acne at times

Can you please advise if the above mentioned is enough or i can go for something like ACV for application / consumption ?

Thanks

Helo Sir,

One final set of question if you could please help with these

1) The diet described earlier (Almonds, Green tea, Spinach, Apple, XXXXXXX Juice, Carrorts, Tomato, good amount of water) - would acv be more effective compared to these?

2)If acv is a better option Can you please advise what sort of improvement it can give to skin?

3) If acv is a better option Can you please advise the company name for acv as i see many brands and whether filtered /non filtered ?

3) Can you please advise how to take the dosage and for how long ?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Regarding Apple cidar vinegar

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

It would be difficult to say whether ACV would be a better option or not because both diet and ACV are not proven treatments for acne although there is lot of undocumented online information available supporting the role of each.

ACV is believed to be antibacterial, antiinflammatory and is said to benefit acne and redness of acne rosacea but again authentic scientific literature is against using ACV in rosacea and it says that ACV may infact exacerbate redness and rosacea. So its exact role is controversial. Hence i wont advice you to use ACV for topical application. I have never advised to any of my patients. None of my colleagues do it either. I think that metrogyl gel is a better option to reduce redness as there is lot of scientific data in support of metrogyl.

Brief Answer:
Regarding Apple cider vinegar

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Apple cider vinegar is said to work by detoxifying liver and thus reducing stress on skin and thereby improving acne. Results are gradual. Consuming a healthy diet also has similar mechanism of improvement. It would be hard to comment which of the two works better as there are no comparison studies. My suggestion would be to follow both if you can.
ACV would help reduce acne, redness and skin tone gradually.
Vitacost Apple cider vinegar or Fleishmann's apple cider vinegar are raw, unfiltered and are considered better than the filtered ones.
One tablespoon twice daily of ACV would be fine.

Thank you Sir for your prompt response.

Sir is Braggs same as Vitacost? Would Braggs ACV be fine?

Since i learnt from my friend that ACV is quite bitter , is it fine to mix in certain proportion of water or any other liquid? Can you advice on the proportion ? Or it should be consumed as it is ?

And if having in morning & night, it should be before or after the meals?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Regarding Apple cider vinegar

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Braggs is different from vitacost. The latter one is unfiltered and the Braggs one is filtered one. However, both would be ok to take.
You can take a tablespoon of ACV i.e around 10ml twice daily, mixed in a glass of water. No need to take it neat. Take it before meals.
Safi is not my choice. I usually ask my patients not to take it. It has no role in acne and moreover it can cause a drug rash. Even ACV is not my choice but still it is fine to take ACV because it has multiple other proposed health benefits if it is taken regularly.
