I am 32 year old healthy male. I have started taking ubiquinol gel capsules in order to achieve anti ageing benefits. I have good skin, no wrinkles and my physique is moderately good as I exercise regularly. I dont smoke nor drink. Can you please suggest if I should take ubiquinol or ubiquinone? Also, should I take DHEA?

Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query.
I appreciate your concern towards the safety and efficacy profiles of the above mentioned drugs
Ubiquinone Coenzyme Q-10, is a coenzyme that is produced in the body and it has not been evaluated by the FDA for safety and efficacy in terms of its anti ageing effects.
DHEA is used for slowing or reversing aging.
It is found to be effective when used for just a few months.
It can cause some side effects including acne, hair loss, stomach upset, and high blood pressure
When used in larger amounts for long-term it can increase the chances of side effects.
Dear as long as you have a good skin which is wrinkle free, good physique and doing exercise daily, in my opinion there is no strong indication for the use of the above mentioned drugs.
Eat healthy balanced diet, fresh fruits and vegetables, take plenty of water this will help in eliminating the toxic substances from the body which are responsible for ageing effects.
Hope the suggestions given above could be of great help to you.
Do you need more clarification, please feel free to send your query.
wishing you best of your health.
Also, since testosterone falls with age, will taking DHEA enhance my sexual performance?
DHEA is usually not recommended for sexual performance.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back to HCM.
I really appreciate your concern towards the efficacy of DHEA for sexual performance.
It is found to be effective in slowing the aging process which is base on strong scientific evidence for this use.
It is also found to be slightly effective in sexual performance.
Since you are just 32 yrs of age and if you are living a normal healthy life, taking healthy balanced diet rich in essential amino acids and fatty acids (required for the synthesis of testosterone), doing regular exercise (which increases the level of DHEA), dietary supplements like multivitamins, not taking alcohol or other drugs, then in my opinion there is no need for you to take this medication for long term use.
Since there are a number of side effects associated with the long term use of DHEA like high BP. So, you have to weigh its merits over demerits while taking a decision.
A qualified physician consultation is recommended so as to help you to take a decision.
Hope the above suggestions are of great help to you.
Best regards.
