Brief Answer:
Hello,

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Chandeep. Welcome to ask a doctor services. I have read your question.

Your mother has blood pressure issues. She is on medication for blood pressure given to her by her local treating doctor.

You have been treating her with medication & lotion for a year for itchiness, yet there is no relieve.

Presently, she has discomfort due to severe itching on the scalp. Sometime, such a symptom may be due to side effects of medicines that are being taken by the person.

Some blood pressure medicines like 'Labetalol' may cause itchy skin, rash, tingly scalp, etc. Stopping the use of the medicine that causes itchiness can quickly resolve the problem.

Since your mother has blood pressure issues, you are suggested to urgently contact her treating doctor. Inform him of her side effects or symptoms of severe itchiness so that the medicine can be changed, replaced with another blood pressure medicine that does not cause such severe itchiness.

Other medical condition that may cause itchiness of the scalp is ring worm infection of the scalp, scabies of the scalp, reaction to a hair care product, psoriasis, dermatitis , etc.

Deficiency of certain vitamins can also cause dry, scaly skin & itchiness. Give her food rich in vitamin B6, vitamin A & D. You can also give her supplements.

She should not keep her skin dry. After bath, she should apply a good quality, herbal body lotion on the skin.

You can get your mother clinically examined by a dermatologist & treated. She should stay away from addictions if any. Help her take care of her hygiene.

She is suggested to wear cotton clothes & use cotton bed sheets. Hope I have answered your question. Take care.
