Brief Answer:
Recheck testosterone in 4-6 months

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Testosterone is a very important hormone in males - it is critical in modulating bodily processes of the cardiovascular, reproductive, hematologic, central nervous, and musculoskeletal systems. Testosterone deficiency, or hypogonadism, is characterized by low levels of T, often in addition with signs and symptoms attributed to low T levels. However, there is no universally accepted threshold of T concentration to distinguish normal testosterone from low testosterone men. T levels decline by 1% per year after age 40. T levels also change with seasons, and between morning and night. The best time to measure is between 6-10 in the morning. It also changes with acute illnesses. All testosterone levels should be measured about 4-6 months after the initial test.

Therefore, a measurement of testosterone is never good enough. You need it checked at certain times of the day, as well as certain times of the year to get an accurate reading. Some common symptoms of low T are: Infertility, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, depression, fatigue, difficulty with concentration, decreased muscle strength and energy level, increase in body fat, development of diabetes, bone fractures from relatively minor trauma.

If you have any symptoms of low testosterone, I would encourage you to get it recheck in about 4-6 months. Make sure it is check in the early morning. If you do not have symptoms, I would not recommend being checked because it is likely that the first test was inaccurate. Testosterone can put you at risk for increasing your cardiovascular health if not used appropriately. You can also get significant changes in mood, increase risk of breast cancer, acne, oily skin, and liver toxicity.

Brief Answer:
Sleep, healthy diet, exercise, and reduce stress

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

There is some earlier evidence that getting 7-8 hours of sleep nightly, exercising daily, eating healthy (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, omega fats, proteins, etc), and reducing stress can increase your testosterone levels. I would recommend printing a list a side effects and benefits and weighing the risks/benefit ratio. If you get relief of your symptoms, you might want to continue it. You need to review the benefits and risk - I listed some of them in the last previously. Avoid tobacco and alcohol too
