Suggest Procedures For Closure Of Vagina Due To Bladder Prolapse

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Oct 2017
Question: I have complete bladder prolapse and with no cervix there is nothing to attatch a pessary to. The only alternative is to close my vagina. I am 73 years old and my husband died last year after 53 years of marriage. I have no desire to develop a relationship with anyone ever again. I would prefer to close my vagina. How is this done and what are the risks.

Would this be done under local anesthesia ar general anesthesia. Would it be done in a hospital as a day surgery?

Closure of vagina for the prolapse is done by the surgery by the name of Le Forte's procedure.
The risk include accumulation of secretion in the vagina, leading to its distension and reopening is the treatment.
It is done under spinal anaesthesia, and you need to be admitted to the hospital for 2-3 days postoperatively.
