Insect bite dermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM...
I read history and saw the photo. I feel that most probably you may be having insect bite dermatitis. There seems erythematous lesion with mild crusted skin. You are having burning rather then itching. The cause may be bite of haematophagous insect. It would be difficult to pinpoint the exact type of insect. The chemicals in saliva of insect would have caused hypersensitivity reaction leading to such skin lesion. You consult the dermatologist to have perfect diagnosis.
I would like to suggest...
- antibiotic like cephalaxin 500 mg twice a day for one week
- tappering and short course of steroids
- apply mild steroid cream combined with antibiotic cream like mometasone with fucidic acid on the lesion
- avoid soap bath
- cleanse the affected area with diluted dettol
- try to protect from insects further
- take bed rest
- keep the affected foot elevated
You may feel better in few days to few weeks.
I hope this would help you.
Thanks.
