Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for getting back with the answers & i apologise for the delay. I have gone through them as well as the image. Most probable differential in this case would be Eczema & tinea (fungal infection). As there is no history of itching so Eczema would be on top of the list. Your primary doctor was right in referring you to a dermatologist for confirmation. I would recommend same because some of the medicines given for eczema are prescription only meds and only he can prescribe them. Following measures will help to resolve it:
- hydrocortisone 1% cream - apply in small quantity over the patch.
- cetirizine one at night for 3 days
- If there is a secondary bacterial infection, appropriate antibiotics would be required to tackle the same.
- Long duration hyper-pigmented and thickened lesions, application of steroid with Salicylic acid preparations.
- Application of moisturizing agents or emollients like vaseline.
These steps will help to reduce the symptoms. Meanwhile visit hospital to get an appointment for a "Consultant Dermatologist"
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
