Suggest Remedies For A Soft Tissue Swelling And Pain Outside The Left Foot

default
Posted on Fri, 13 May 2016
Question: I have soft tissue swelling and pain on outside of left foot. Saw my Doc today, x-ray taken. Doc said to wrap foot with ace bandage and wear a shoe. This was before the x-ray was read by a radiologist. The results of x-ray is all normal except for enthesopathy of peroneus brevis tendon insertion. The ace wrap makes stinging pain in foot worse. Do I need more immobilization?

Brief Answer:
Stop Ace Wrapping immediately..

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX , Welcome to HCM,

I've gone through your query and glad to help you today .

Well it's good that there was no fracture, and since diagnosis of Enthesopathy is already made so management changes right from there.

Yes indeed you need immobilization (specially the affected Left Foot).

No more Ace wrapping as it'll further worsen the condition.

Instead put some ice compression over the feet at least 4-5 times a day.

Now please let me know if you previously had any kind of problem with the foot , also if you're having any past medical illness .

Any history of accident / trauma involving the foot ?

Any other medications that you're currently taking apart from those already mentioned ?

Instead of Celebrex please have Tab PARACETAMOL 650 mg Three times a day after food for the next 4-5 days, as celebrex mainly prescribed for arthritis pain (which you need to take only if you're diagnosed so) .

Try to keep the foot elevated and immobilzed as much as possible. Avoid putting as less pressure as possible over the outside part of the foot in future.

You'll be needing to schedule a visit to Orthopaedician to determine the further course of action in this regard as there are several treatment modalities available in this regard (to Start with MRI of the foot to determine the exact nature of deformity of the peronius brevis then probably determine the exact cause of concern and injecting Cortisone or PRP and so on.. depending on the condition).

In due course there'll be need to start further Foot Physiotherapy as well stretching exercises depending on the condition.

Please feel free to discuss more , I'll be happy to help.

Take Care
Regards
