Suggest Remedies For Bed Sore On The Buttocks
Question: Hi,
My mother has a "second degree" bed sore on her buddocks (smaller than a dime). The nurse recommended silver sulfadiazine 1% cream. Application: 2 times a day X 30 days. This cream comes with a host of side effects. The concern is that mom is already dealing with a thyroid condition. is there anything else that she might be able to use to treat the sore instead of the Silvadene. Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic.
Very sorry to hear about your mother's condition.
Yes there are many more antibiotics that can be more helpful in treating a stage 2 bedsore.
Please apply Nadifloxacin ointment twice daily, provided she has no allergy to it.
Keep the area covered after you clean the sore with any antibacterial solution like betadine (Povidone Iodine) and apply this ointment.
Change of her position every second hourly is highly recommended.
Also use an air mattress instead of the regular one
Hope this helps
