Suggest Remedies For Breathing Problem In An Asthma Patient

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Apr 2016
Question: I am having trouble breathing. I had a chest x/ray that came back negative. Could my wind pipe be the problem? Would this area be part of the chest xray?nothing seems to work. I feel restriction in throat. I have GURD and feel like I may be breathing in bubble of fluid in my sleep. I have or had controlled asthma. Since I have asthma it has been assumed that the problem is in my chest. What would you suggest?

Brief Answer:
You should get done PFT first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should first get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
This will tell you about severity of the asthma and treatment of asthma is based on severity only.
PFT will also tell you about intra thoracic and extra thoracic obstruction.
So any obstruction in wind pipe is also identified by PFT.
Chest x ray is not 100% accurate. For this you need to get done CT neck and Bronchoscopy.
Uncontrolled GERD can also cause similar symptoms.
So please let me know
1. Is your GERD controlled?
2. Do you have wheezing at night?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks
