Brief Answer:
needs toilet training - will suggest what you need to do
Detailed Answer:
Hi....the basic problem with your child is that he is not understanding the need that he should do the urination and defecation only in the lavatory. You can do the following to make him get used to do the same -
1. Make him go the washroom whether there is a need or not regularly at 2 hourly intervals. Most children have a bowel movement once a day, usually within an hour after eating. Most children urinate within an hour after having a large drink.
2. Applaud him if he passes urine in the wash room even though you have asked him to do so.
3. Do not scold him or reprimand him for passing it in the pants.
4. Make him flush the toilet and show him how he can play with water in the washroom so that it might make him go to wash room often.
5. Tell him that the potty he is using is his own one and it is only for him and make him feel that it is his own possession.
6. Avoid using diapers or training pants. I know it is difficult to keep cleaning the house often but - training pants or diapers may confuse children and make them think it is okay to use diapers. This may slow the toilet training process.
7. Each child is individual and some times it might take 6 months or more for you to toilet train him adequately.
8. Start giving him XXXXXXX gifts even if he has asked for washroom even once a day. This will encourage him to do this more often.
9. Kids usually relish attention more than any toy - so try giving him utmost attention when he indicates his need to go to toilet.
