Question: I am still suffering chronic depression after a traumatic visit to the dentist.i take a lot of vaium doesthat make the depression worse?

Yes sir, Valium does lower mood and can worsen depression. What dose of Valium are you taking daily? You cannot stop this medicine immediately because of serious risk of withdrawal/seizures/coma/death, but you may be able to slowly taper off of it to improve your mood over time.

thanks dr.sheppe.i took 3 valium the night before last,and only one last night.i take it because I awake very early in the mornings.for instance this morning it was 1.30am.so I took a valium and had a terrible nightmare.but at least it was sleep I guess.my concentration is very poor.i can't hardly do anything.i no longer play golf or go to church.i can't listen to my music or read or even watch tv.i get agitation.my thoughts have become negative..for instance I think of songs in my head but feel depressed when I think of the lyrics.nothing gives me comfort or XXXXXXX anymore.i just want out of this hell that I am going through.i really feel like taking an overdose.will I ever get over this harrowing visit to the dentist?actually doctor,my thoughts have picked up a bit today,no longer negative XXXXXXX

dear doctor sheppe,i have come off the valium,but had a temazapam last night.i am very nervous today.is that because it is short-acting?i can't seem to settle.i feel like a bundle of nerves.i don't want to take any more benzodiazepams as they are giving me great depression and anxiety,my sleep is poor.will extra Zyprexa help?graham
