Question: Since taking Atenolol I have had a times confusion & lack of alertness. This worries me, so I intend to gradually reduce taking medication to a point where I can stop taking them. At present I am taking 25mg 6 days per week. What are your suggestions? Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Considerations. B

Detailed Answer:
If I were your treating doctor, I would modify the dose - to take tablet half dose for about a week.

Then take the dose every other day. then take a quarter dose every other day and stop. It is important to substitute atenolol with other drugs to treat hypertension. Discuss with your treating doctor.

Sincerely,

Dr Galamaga
