Suggest Remedies For Constipation And Painful Bowel Movements

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: I had a horrible bout of constipation with severe pain 3 nights ago. Since then, I am unable to have a bowel movement without using a fleet suppository and I also have some leakage from the rectum. Will this condition resolve itself or should I be concerned. It has been 8 years since I have had a colonoscopy, which was normal.

Brief Answer:
Supportive care and diet lifestyle changes.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. COnstipation is decline in bowel functions and age related bowel decline is one of the commonest cause. Its good that suppositories help. Try other laxatives of many kinds. See which one helps. More important is adjusting diet and lifestyle. Increasing fiber and fluid intake to minimum of 3 litres a day will help the bowel movements to happen. Laxatives will help. Also exercise and good bowel habits, using toilet in the morning for 10 minutes after 10 minutes of breakfast is the best time of bowel movements as those are strongest at that time.

Now that leakage is likely a constipation sequelae as impacted stool there may cause mucous discharge. However i would like you to get evaluated for anal incontinence. Also defecography should be considered and repeated colonoscopy would be a good idea too as it has been 8 years now.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
