Question: Last week i had a cold or Ssome kind of infection. It caused soar throat, my nose would be congested, and coughing.

I have been coughing still but not alot and when i do a cough muscus. To me sounds like my cough is breaking up.

Last night i smoked some Marijuana for stress. It make my throat really dry and i started coughing more and bit harders. I took a tissue to spit on the mucus that came up. When i did there was a little bit of blood. This just happened last night and hasnt been this morning or since.

Should i be worried about it being lung cancer?

Brief Answer:
likely due to infection

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Most coughs and colds are due to viral infection even if it is productive of mucus.

Respiratory tract infections, whether viral or bacterial, would cause inflammation /irritation of the airways. This inflammation can cause bleeding to occur. When the infection and inflammation resolves, the bleeding should also stop as well

It is usually not an indicator of a serious condition.

You can consider the use of a mucolytic to help break up the mucus eg mucomyst, bisolvan or guaifenesin
Using a lot of fluids would also help as well.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
can linger for 6 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hi

A cough can linger for up to 6 weeks after the initial infection persisting long after the other symptoms have resolved.

If it very severe or associated with systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, loss of appetite etc, it may indicate antibiotics are needed

Please feel free to ask anything else
