How long it will persist? Today is the 6th day he is not well and first day of itching. Not able to sleep at all. Applied calamine lotion
Brief Answer:
Itching Usually lasts for 4-5 days from the start of itching
Detailed Answer:
Hi...in dengue fever, rather than platelet count...most important things are -
1. Swelling and water accumulation all over the body.
2. Decreased urine output
3. Respiratory distress
4. Seizures
5. Regarding lab tests - PCV or Hematocrit is more important than platelet count. If it is above 38 and the kid is not drinking water well, we need to hospitalize and start intravenous fluids.
What you need to do is - watch for the above danger signs and if they develop rush to nearest emergency room.
ITCHING IS A RECOVERY SIGN. ONCE IT STARTS IT WILL BE THERE FOR 4-5 DAYS FROM THE DAY OF START OF ITCHING.
