Suggest Remedies For Erosive Gastritis And Constipation

what tests can help diagnose whether I have bacteria issue with gut. also endoscopically diagnosed with erosive gastritis. persccribed pantoprazole taken for 2 days.
Please follow...
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking on HCM.
You are reporting to have been diagnosed with erosive gastritis by upper endoscopy.
It is a good choice to start the treatment with PPI's like pantoprasole at your case.
I would like to know if you have done serological test or biopsy for H.Pylori infection.
If you haven't done it yet I would recommend to do breath test for H.pylori infection as the major cause of gastritis.
With regards to constipation, firstly I would like to recommend changing lifestyle as below:
- use plenty of water
- use vegetables and fresh fruits
- use olive oil three teaspoons per day
- increase physical activity
- avoid spicy and chilly foods
If the constipation persist after a couple of days than you can start to use duphalac ( stool softener).
If you have more than 3 months with constipation than I would recommend to do colonoscopy to better evaluate large bowel.
Hope it was helpful to you!

Been doing all of above except Olive Oil, taking Carlson's Omega 3 Fish Oil.
1. Should I take Olive oil as well?
2. Is Calcium Citrate a problem for my stomach condition?
3. As I understand the Pantoprazole blocks stomach acid, therefore mineral absorption, should I take some type of Mineral Supplement? What would be safe for my stomach?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
With regards to calcium citrate I would suggest to avoid it since it can cause constipation and upset stomach.
You can take olive oil even if you are using omega 3 fish oil. They have no interactions with each other.
You are asking if you need supplements since you are using pantoprasole.
No, in clinical practice I don't recommended to use supplements since there is no known mineral deficits during this treatment.
So there is no need to use other supplements.
Hope it was helpful to you.
