Suggest Remedies For Fordyce Spots On Lips
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I am a 20 year old diagnosed with fordyce spots on the lips and seborrheic dermatitis (main concern is fordyce spots because the dermatitis is under control with ELEDEL cream). I've had cryotherapy for the spots, Cold nitrogen to be specific, and they have slightly got better but still visible. The main problem is that my lips are still drying up and peeling off multiple times daily and the only way to cleanse my lips completely from the dead skin is applying FUCIDIN ointment before gowing to sleep. The only problem with this is that I'm not sure if applying a topical antibiotic for the rest of my life wont have complications further in the future, plus girls don't really like the idea of sleeping next to a guy with foul tasting ointment on his mouth that looks really nasty in the morning and it actually stings too. I need help knowing if there are any treatments for the lip peeling and shedding, and if there isn't any is it ok to use FUCIDIN for the rest of my life? (I apply it once every other day) Thank you!
Brief Answer:
Vaseline should be started for long term use..

Hi there,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I am Dr.Barani and I am pleased to assist you.
Fucidin is an antibiotic.
Antibiotics are used only to treat infection and not dry lips and peeling in the lips.
Moreover it is not advisable to use antibiotics life long.
I presume you have only simple drying and peeling in the lips.
I also presume you do not have any other issues like diabetes.
Drink enough fluids to remain well hydrated.
Apply Vaseline/Liquid paraffin to the dry lips.
This will provide relief.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.Barani
