Question: I have taken several readings and my blood pressure has averaged 152 over 110. What should I do and how can I bring it down?

Hello and welcome,

I am not sure why your question didn't get answered sooner and I'm sorry about that.

When the upper number is consistently over 180 or the lower number is consistently over or around 110, this is considered hypertensive crisis. I recommend that you go in to the ER where they can bring down your blood pressure safely while you are monitored.

After this, please follow up with your doctor as you will need a blood pressure medicine. If the Losartan gave you unacceptable side effects, there are other blood pressure lowering meds. They all have the potential for some side effects, but you may find one that you find more tolerable.

So do go in now.
